The IAGA–IASPEI Joint Scientific Meeting 2025 is one of the most prestigious international gatherings in geophysics and Earth sciences.
This year’s edition, hosted at ISEL in Lisbon, will bring together hundreds of world-leading researchers, academics, and experts to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and present the latest scientific advances.
Organised by the International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (IAGA) and the International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth’s Interior (IASPEI), the programme spans topics in geomagnetism, seismology, and the study of Earth’s interior—from fundamental research to innovative instrumentation.
The SUBMERSE project (SUBMarinE cables for ReSearch and Exploration) will be there to showcase how submarine fibre optic cables—already used by the research and education networking community, can be transformed into planetary-scale sensors for seismology, oceanography, and marine biology.
This year in Lisbon, our project team will contribute to the programme through training courses, scientific presentations, and a joint exhibition booth with fellow research infrastructure initiatives: Geo-INQUIRE, EMSO ERIC, and European Plate Observing System (EPOS).
